Canberra  is in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), which is its own territory within New South Wales and the capital of Australia. All of the federal government’s business is done in the capital. The population is about 380,000 and it is the 8th largest city in Australia. Most people move to Canberra for a job with the government or politics. There is also a vibrant cultural community in Canberra because it is filled with many gardens and museums. A large part of the ACT is taken up by Namadgi National Park, which is great for tourism and a close-by holiday escape for residents. The close proximity to the mountains also means a cooler climate than most cities in Australia. The city offers a wide variety of housing options, public transportation is easily accessible, and there are great schools available for families relocating here.
