Bendigo is located in the centre of Victoria about 150 km north of Melbourne. Like Ballarat, Victoria  (which we also have a City Spotlight on), it was a boomtown of the Victorian era gold rush. The city has a population just over 100,000 and is the 4th largest inland city in Australia. It is one of the only non-capital cities to have a large financial district and is home to the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank as well as the Bendigo Stock Exchange. With the rich history and present day financial district, the city is an interesting and eclectic blend of old and new. Continue reading
